3-Disc Set Available November 10
FORT WORTH, TEXAS - After a year of non-stop touring in support of their fourth studio album, Austin roots-rockers Micky & the Motorcars will release their first ever live album, Live at Billy Bob’s Texas, on November 10. Recorded in-concert at the legendary honky-tonk, the Motorcars will join the ranks of some of country music’s greatest as the newest addition to the “Live at Billy Bob’s” series.
The 3 disc (2CD/1 DVD) combo brings fans center stage in the ultimate concert experience as the boys of Micky & the Motorcars give one of their most pulsating performances of all time. Combining tracks from 2002’s Which Way from Here to the critically acclaimed NAIVE, the collection captures the band’s raw energy as they perform 25 of their greatest hits and fan favorites in an uncut full-length concert. Lead singer, Micky Braun, delivers a flawless and spellbinding set, showcasing his supple vocal range in boisterous rock-anthems like “Bloodshot” and heartfelt melodies like “Seashell” and “Long and Lonely Highway”.
Idaho natives, Micky Braun (lead vocals and acoustic, electric and rhythm guitar), and older brother Gary Braun (harmony vocals and electric guitar), come from a long line of music tradition. Father, Muzzy Braun, was a folk legend in their home state of Idaho, and their other brothers, Willy & Cody Braun, have already made a name in Texas music and beyond, in the band Reckless Kelly. Other Micky & the Motorcars band members include: Mark McCoy (bass guitar), Kris Farrow (lead guitar), and Shane Vannerson (drums and percussion).
“Billy Bob’s is the biggest and best Texas venue, with an amazing sound quality and a crowd that always listens and responds with an energy we can all feed off of,” says Gary Braun. DVD features the full length concert and behind the scenes bonus footage.

Stoney LaRue:
Born in Taft, Texas, LaRue actually spent the majority of his adolescence north of the Red River, where he was raised in Southeastern Oklahoma. He never really pictured himself doing anything else but making good music, so LaRue eventually made his way to the state’s Red Dirt hotbed of Stillwater, where he began to develop his individualized style from a widespread range of influences. LaRue’s emerging style impressively blends varied elements of country, blues, and soulful rock into cohesive, vocal driven performances. In 2006, Stoney released an addition to the famed Live at Billy Bob’s series. His live single, “Oklahoma Breakdown” topped the Texas charts for over four weeks and has ignited Stoney’s powerful support as an artist not to be missed.
Reckless Kelly:
Led by brothers Willy (vocals/guitar) and Cody Braun (vocals/fiddle/mandolin/harmonica), alternative country-rock outfit Reckless Kelly formed in Bend, OR, before relocating to Austin, TX, in January 1997. The Brauns had previously toured with their father in Muzzie Braun & the Boys, a Western swing band. Wicked Twisted Road was released in 2005, and the next year the live album Reckless Kelly Was Here, which featured songs from all of their previous studio records, as well as three covers, and truly captured the band's stage presence, came out. Bulletproof appeared from Yep Roc in 2008.
Micky and the Motorcars:
With four albums under their belt, Micky and the Motorcars are now established as one of the best-drawing bands on the lucrative Texas Music circuit. Their latest album, NAIVE, debuts in the Billboard Heatseekers Chart in August 2008 and spent an unprecedented 7 months on the Americana Chart. They recently recorded their first live album, as the newest addition to the “Live at Billy Bob’s Texas” series.
Wade Bowen:
Ask Wade Bowen what distinguishes his music, and after mulling the notion for a minute, his answer is basic and direct: “Intensity.” That’s because Bowen sings and writes with passion and fervent commitment about the matters that count in life with a depth of thought and palpable emotionality that hits listeners where they live and feel. And that fervor is matched by rich melodies and lyrical and musical hooks that grab the ears and imagination and don’t let go.
Bleu Edmondson:
Bleu Edmondson began writing songs at the age of nineteen, got his first guitar on his 21st birthday and formed a band at twenty-two. Now 30, Bleu has not looked back since as he and the Bleu Edmondson Band have sold tens of thousands of records and amassed a rabid fan base on the hot Texas music scene. Building on a tireless tour schedule throughout Texas and the Midwest and the brilliance of the late 2007 release “Lost Boy”, the Bleu Edmondson Band now stands perched at the edge of a national breakthrough. Their most current CD, Live at Billy Bob’s Texas full album was released in May.
Whiskey Myers:
Whiskey Myers takes the blues rock genre and mixes it with modern day Texas Country to derive a new sound that is sure to take concert listeners on an atmospheric roller coaster. The band’s debut album, Road of Life, produced by Mike McClure, is an album with the ability to stimulate fans of Folk Americana and cross over to the Texas Country/Red Dirt music fans. With a sound like no other and a stage presence that captivates anyone close enough to notice, a live concert performed by this young band is something that must be seen to be believed.
Travis Linville:
Travis Linville is a singer songwriter and guitarist hailing from the small town of Chickasha, OK. Linville has performed 200 shows per year for the last 12 years all over the US, Canada and Europe as a solo artist, band leader and as a jack of all trades sideman. Since 2006 Linville has been honing his solo show into a unique work of art. Linville’s solo guitar styles bring to mind Richard Thompson, Merle Travis, Joe Pass or Leo Kottke but as the songs roll out you realize that this guitarist is also a poet. The show is moving, soulful, and seems to come out effortlessly.
Bo Phillips:
After being an agriculture teacher for six years, Bo decided it was about time that he pursue his lifelong dream...music. After careful consideration, he resigned his job and dove head first into the music world never to look back. Now, Bo is being booked by some of the top venues in the state and has played at many venues in Texas, Missouri, Kansas, and Colorado.
About Smith Music Group:
Smith Music Group began producing events in 2003 with the Stockyards Stampede led by Hank Williams, Jr. in the Fort Worth Stockyards. The following year kicked off a three year run of the Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic in the Stockyards. Smith Music Group also produces the Cross Canadian Ragweed Red Dirt Roundup every Labor Day weekend (currently in its 4th year) in the Stockyards. Smith realized the potential in Nacogdoches with its large fan base, great venue and support of the city and brought the Red Dirt Roundup to Nacogdoches in the fall of last year. Not a bad Texas Music Chart for our Smith artists 2 in the Top 5. After 2 wonderful weeks at #1 on the TMC, our Honeybrowne single “Put That Ring Back On Your Finger” slips to #3 this week. Another Top 5 single for the men of No Justice. “Don’t Walk Away” leaps from #9 to #5. Solid week for our Micky and the Motorcars single “Long Enough To Leave.” Steady at #13. Yeah baby!! Jason Allen w/ Deryl Dodd “Jenny Lee” skyrockets from #19 to #14. Whiskey Myers “Lonely East TX Nights” is off a few spots to #20, but despair not o fans of great music. These fellows are young and resilient and I truly believe this single has some solid upward growth left in it. Another outstanding week for our Brandon Jenkins single “Till The Morning Comes” after that meteoric jump last week from #43 to #25. This week, #25 to #22. Maren Morris “Goodbye” checks in at #23 this week. That is the kind of week I was looking for on the Cody Gill Band. Our CGB single “King Of Your Hometown” jumps up 2 spots to #34.

SIRIUS XM’s “DALLAS WAYNE” TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM, MARCH 3RD
The “Willie’s Place” and “Outlaw Country” DJ will release his new album, I’ll Take the Fifth, with Smith Entertainment
FT. WORTH, TEXAS (FEBRUARY 26, 2009) – Sirius XM Satellite’s “Willie’s Place” and “Outlaw Country” DJ, Dallas Wayne, will release his new album, I’ll Take the Fifth, with Smith Entertainment, March 3rd, 2009. On his latest release, Dallas showcases some of his favorite original songs, both old and new, ranging from hard-core country ballads and swing, to swamp rock and up-tempo Texas dance tunes. A salute to the best of Americana music in all its different forms. With Wayne’s rich voice and roadhouse rhythms, I’ll Take the Fifth is a true testament to traditional honky-tonk music.
Dallas Wayne has traveled around the world as a songwriter, singer, actor and radio DJ. The Springfield, Missouri native began performing in 1975 and by the age of 18 had toured throughout the entire U.S. and Canada. He played with the honky-tonk supergroup, the TwangBangers. In 2005, Dallas embarked on a new facet of his career when he joined the family of on-air personalities in Outlaw Country on SIRIUS Satellite Radio. Well..it is go time!! Our first Texas Music Chart of the year is this
coming Monday 1-19.
I am here in Fort Worth this week. A few days of meetings, then down to
Fredericksburg for KFAN’s Windows on Texas deal.
I had a great time in Steamboat for a couple of days. I fell on my ass
several times, yet had nary a drink!! As far as Smith acts, I got to hang
out with Fred Andrews from Honeybrowne (and his lovely wife Anne..in
addition to being Mrs. Fred, she is a KVET and KASE announcer), Brandon
Jenkins, our new artist Bo Cox (debut single in a few days), Rich O’Toole
and Micky and the Motorcars. The Motorcars played a great outdoor set in a
practical blizzard opening for Jack Ingram. Got to hang with Jack for a
bit. Our Jack Live at Billy Bob’s CD remains one of our top-sellers. And
of course I saw our concert and catalogue partners Ragweed and Randy
Rogers.

Women sitting on the shoulders of men wearing straw cowboy hats bared their breasts to signal their affection for the band, and plenty of attendees had the Lone Star flag tattooed on their calves.
