FORT WORTH, TEXAS – Shiner presents Stoney LaRue’s 1st Annual Party in the Pines country music festival that will kick off in downtown Nacogdoches, Saturday, August 29th, at Festival Plaza. Produced by Smith Music Group, the concert will feature an all-star lineup of Texas country and Red Dirt acts.

This year’s Party in the Pines lineup includes Stoney LaRue, Reckless Kelly, Micky and the Motorcars, Wade Bowen, Whiskey Myers, Travis Linville and Bo Phillips.

Gates open at 11:00 am with music beginning at noon.  Tickets are on sale now at Hastings, Brookshire Brothers and Baskins locations, and also through ticketmaster.com. $25 in advance; $35 at the gate day of show. Hotel packages and more information available on www.stoneyspartyinthepines.com.

This year’s event will have an expanded beer garden encompassing 40,000 square feet of the park.  Beer and wine will be available for purchase within this area.  Once you buy a ticket, concert goers will be permitted to leave and re-enter throughout the day.

Stoney LaRue:

Born in Taft, Texas, LaRue actually spent the majority of his adolescence north of the Red River, where he was raised in Southeastern Oklahoma. He never really pictured himself doing anything else but making good music, so LaRue eventually made his way to the state’s Red Dirt hotbed of Stillwater, where he began to develop his individualized style from a widespread range of influences. LaRue’s emerging style impressively blends varied elements of country, blues, and soulful rock into cohesive, vocal driven performances. In 2006, Stoney released an addition to the famed Live at Billy Bob’s series.  His live single, “Oklahoma Breakdown” topped the Texas charts for over four weeks and has ignited Stoney’s powerful support as an artist not to be missed.

Reckless Kelly:

Led by brothers Willy (vocals/guitar) and Cody Braun (vocals/fiddle/mandolin/harmonica), alternative country-rock outfit Reckless Kelly formed in Bend, OR, before relocating to Austin, TX, in January 1997. The Brauns had previously toured with their father in Muzzie Braun & the Boys, a Western swing band. Wicked Twisted Road was released in 2005, and the next year the live album Reckless Kelly Was Here, which featured songs from all of their previous studio records, as well as three covers, and truly captured the band's stage presence, came out. Bulletproof appeared from Yep Roc in 2008.

Micky and the Motorcars:

With four albums under their belt, Micky and the Motorcars are now established as one of the best-drawing bands on the lucrative Texas Music circuit. Their latest album, NAIVE, debuts in the Billboard Heatseekers Chart in August 2008 and spent an unprecedented 7 months on the Americana Chart. They recently recorded their first live album, as the newest addition to the “Live at Billy Bob’s Texas” series.

Wade Bowen:

Ask Wade Bowen what distinguishes his music, and after mulling the notion for a minute, his answer is basic and direct: “Intensity.” That’s because Bowen sings and writes with passion and fervent commitment about the matters that count in life with a depth of thought and palpable emotionality that hits listeners where they live and feel. And that fervor is matched by rich melodies and lyrical and musical hooks that grab the ears and imagination and don’t let go.

Bleu Edmondson:

Bleu Edmondson began writing songs at the age of nineteen, got his first guitar on his 21st birthday and formed a band at twenty-two.  Now 30, Bleu has not looked back since as he and the Bleu Edmondson Band have sold tens of thousands of records and amassed a rabid fan base on the hot Texas music scene.  Building on a tireless tour schedule throughout Texas and the Midwest and the brilliance of the late 2007 release “Lost Boy”, the Bleu Edmondson Band now stands perched at the edge of a national breakthrough.  Their most current CD, Live at Billy Bob’s Texas full album was released in May.

Whiskey Myers:

Whiskey Myers takes the blues rock genre and mixes it with modern day Texas Country to derive a new sound that is sure to take concert listeners on an atmospheric roller coaster. The band’s debut album, Road of Life, produced by Mike McClure, is an album with the ability to stimulate fans of Folk Americana and cross over to the Texas Country/Red Dirt music fans.  With a sound like no other and a stage presence that captivates anyone close enough to notice, a live concert performed by this young band is something that must be seen to be believed.

Travis Linville:

Travis Linville is a singer songwriter and guitarist hailing from the small town of Chickasha, OK. Linville has performed 200 shows per year for the last 12 years all over the US, Canada and Europe as a solo artist, band leader and as a jack of all trades sideman. Since 2006 Linville has been honing his solo show into a unique work of art. Linville’s solo guitar styles bring to mind Richard Thompson, Merle Travis, Joe Pass or Leo Kottke but as the songs roll out you realize that this guitarist is also a poet. The show is moving, soulful, and seems to come out effortlessly.

Bo Phillips:

After being an agriculture teacher for six years, Bo decided it was about time that he pursue his lifelong dream...music. After careful consideration, he resigned his job and dove head first into the music world never to look back. Now, Bo is being booked by some of the top venues in the state and has played at many venues in Texas, Missouri, Kansas, and Colorado.
